Hart,
I never have used or seen one.
But, it seems to me, that if you want to talk
to Joe or Bill a few blocks away, it might work for that.
But if you want to work DX or the other side of the country
you probably want something like a real antenna.
This is probably especially true during these sunspot
declination days!
