[Antennas] Attic Antenna

When I first got married we lived in a two story apartment. No Antennas were
allowed of any kind outside.

There was no attic, or at least access to one. Being a new amateur (2 years on
the air) I was dying to get on the air. What we did have was one of those
suspended ceilings like you see all the time in offices and businesses and such.

The area above all the living space was open,, the walls did not go above the
suspended ceiling.

I made a loop of insulated 18 ga wire as large as possible around the perimeter of
the space up there, and brought it down through one of the panels in one of the
spare bedrooms with TV twinlead.

I fed this with an old Johnson Kilowatt matchbox. The match was great on all bands
80 through 10.

In the time we lived there till we bought our own home (1.5 years) With that
antenna I was able to get my Worked All States, and 79 countries of the DXCC all
running a barefoot Drake TR-4.

So when there's a will there's a way.
