I have a wire vertical for 7Mhz with 6 bent radials -- my lot is 10x30feet!
On the long haul It is never weaker than my friend's inverted vee at 90' !
Even last night I worked my buddies 4S7DA and 4S7EA on 40! Sure, the more
radials the merrier, but doesn't mean to say that few don't work. BTW, soil
conductivity here is not great and I am not near the ocean. The 6 radials
gives me a near perfect match into 50 ohm coax. So, I guess much of the 50
ohm feed Z is ground loss? The things still works and has been good for DXCC
wrked in 42 days!

I am not disputing the theory of 120 radials being the point at which
diminishing results are reached, but feel that one can get a vertical to
work DX with a modest radial system! BTW, my other neighbour (300m) runs a
MFJ vertical dipole and can't hear 80% of the DX I hear with my cheap and
crude wire vertical!

Ron, 6Y5/4S7RO
