A few weeks ago I discussed the US Tower wench cable lubrication
requirements with some one on this reflector but I lost his name. Any way
here is the response I got from US TOWER, See info below, 73 Mac

Mac,
We do not recommend that you apply anything to the cables, it will
attract
dirt & debris and damage the winch and pulleys on your system. We do
recommend that you replace the cables every three years.

I have a MA-40 tubular tower and wonder if there is any necessity to
lube my cables, if so what do you recommend. It is about7 years old and
the cables look OK physically but awful dry looking . After being in
Florida and the birds perching on my beam elements and managing to dump
on the wenches they are messy. So thought I ask don't see anything in my
