Is it a fiberglass vertical????

If its fiberglass of 8-10ft its likely a 3-4db gain....to get up 6db
gain, the physical length would have to be around 20ft or so...
(you cant change the laws of physics! :)

If cut for 150-162, it will work in 146-148 range....but as you go
down in freq, there will be beamtilt and the gain will decrease...
in the 145 range, reflected will probably climb to say 10% of fwd or
more....and beam tilt will be worse...which of course will cause the
gain to suffer...
