Consider this:  One of the local AM radio stations here, put up a hugh
top loaded verticle radiator.  Never seen one like it before. Looked
like a "Farris wheel"  mounted horizontally on top of a short tower.  It
was only there about 6 months, now I notice a standard configuration AM
tower setup in use.  Maybe the shortened antenna had higher angle of
radiation.  Anyway, this was just my observation for your
consideration.  Good luck
