Well, the M2 loops, and similar designs are MEANT to be used horizontally
actually.
I had many different loops here on my cars. (though not any of the current
commerical units)
Try to keep them away from the roof as much as possible. On a truck that may
only be 3feet, but
as far as you can the better. I usually mount them on a corner to reduce
the interaction from the roof. That was they "see" more of real ground
(pavement, etc.)
The seem to be a lot quieter than any vertical I've used.
If you stacked 2 of them side by side they would only be in correct phasing
in ONE direction remember.
All other azimuths would suffer from pattern distortion and out of phase
characteristics of some kind.
