Palomar has a "tuner-tuner" device in which you:
1) Install between the transceiver (or amp) and the antenna tuner/matchbox
2) Set the receiver to the desired freq
3) Turn 'on' the "tuner-tuner"
4) Adjust the tuner/matchbox for noise null on the receiver...
This lets you tune the tuner without transmitting.
?????? Now for the question:
Could you use this same device to find the freq(s) at which your antenna is
resonant ?????
by:
1) Install between the transceiver (or amp) and the antenna tuner/matcher
2) Set the tuner/matchbox to 'BYPASS'
3) Be sure the radio (and amp) are in RECEIVE mode)
4) Turn on the "tuner-tuner"
5) Tune the RECEIVER until this same 'null' noise happens. This might
happen at multiple freqs if the antenna resonates at more than one freq.
There is another manufacturer (whose name escapes me at the moment) that has
a similar device but it uses a more easily heard 'pulsing' noise in lieu of
Palomar's 'white' noise.
