Hi Chris,

If what you are describing is a through-the-glass antenna, the coupler
(which couples the signal from the feedline, through the glass, to the
antenna) is designed for the 800 MHz range. It will not work on 2m. However,
through-the-glass VHF, UHF and dual-band antennas are available from various
manufacturers.

I have seen a number of cars lately with a small whip just above the back
window.  I assume that it is for cell phone.  However, could the whip part
be replaced and the wiring etc still used for 2m etc?  Could a similar
thing be installed for 2m etc?
