[Antennas] How do I fool an FT-100D?

I have just installed a 102" whip on my truck. It is being driven by
an FT-100D via an SGC-237 tuner. Everything between 80 and 10 meters,
except maybe for parts of 20, seems to be working out pretty good. It
is just that it is a pain to load because I have to change modes to
AM, key the mic, wait until it tunes, and then go back to SSB. Does
anyone know how I can fool the FT-100D into thinking that it is
attached to Yaesu's FC-20 tuner so that I can use the TUN button? If
I can do that, all I would have to do to load up the antenna would be
to press TUN, wait until the SGC completes its tuning and then press
the TUN button again to stop the tune operation. This would be great
because it would then operate just like the FC-20 except that it
wouldn't end the tune operation automatically, I would have to end it
manually by pressing TUN again. The FT-100D recognizes that the FC-20
is attached when the FT-100 is turned on if FC-20 is specified in the
menus but if it doesn't see the FC-20 then it assumes no tuner is
attached even thought the SGC is out there. It has something to do
with the DATA connector.
