I have the ICOM AH-4 at the end of a 70' horizontal wire, (well stem
ground), and the AH-4's tuning process very nearly terminates the
coax at 50 Ohms.  There is a minuscule VSWR at the TS-940S output.
For the hell of it I can let the TS-940S internal tuner have a go at
reducing the VSWR, but it's hardly worth the effort.  Generally, if
you're going to use lumped constants to make a wire(s) look like
50 Ohm j0 then try to put them all in the same place.  You'll have
a box with your transmitter on one end, and the antenna wire(s) on
the other, and stay out of the box while you are on the air. As George
