[Antennas] Your Antenna "pre-selector" Desires....

The "built-in" antenna tuner in your rig (the FT570), isn't *really* a
"tuner" (per se), but more of a "line flattener", Tim.... Usually, those
built-in "tuners" can only handle a 3:1 VSWR (not a wide range at all !).

As a reader suggested to you, "All that is required is an L-match, which is
made...." You can adjust the L-network by taking your "auto-tune" off-line
(in other words, you aren't using the built-in tuner) and looking at the
VSWR of the antenna system and then adjusting the L-C network for minimum
VSWR (looking toward the at-tenna system). *THEN* re-enable the auto-tune
function on your FT-570, looking into the L-Network/Antenna System.

"All that is required ... is an L-match, which is made from an inductor and
a variable capacitor."

Would the same be applicable in my situation?
I have a 570 with autotuner and I am looking for a way to get a better match
before I hit the autotune.
As I understand it the 570 tuner has a problem with higher mismatches and it
can be detrimental to its health in the long run.
