Bungee cords are a lethal device, given the right conditions.

About 4 years ago a young man (about 16) was killed by a bungee cord whilst
collecting shopping trolleys in the super market carpark.

He had collected 6 or 8 trolleys and had them joined together with a stretched
bungee cord connecting the front trolley to the back trolley. As he pushed them
along the bungee cord snapped and shot back and hit him in the throat. This
crushed his wind pipe and he died soon after.

Such a simple error with such a grave consequence.
