Don,

I've not heard that, but I can believe it.  They used to do those car 
stereo competitions in the mid 80's.  I don't know if they still do it 
since all the noise ordinances have been passed, but the amount of money 
these kids would expend to make something you couldn't listen to inside the 
vehicle if you wanted to stay alive.  Competitions had to issue disclaimers 
to people listening thinking about getting into competition.  They said 
there is a certain db threshold over which bass notes can actually cause a 
heart to stop beating and having been around some close to that threshold, 
I believe it.

I haven't seen that level of stereo involvement in over 10 years, but I'm 
sure there are probably people out there who continue something like 
it.  But to cause the welds in the frame to come loose...heheheh...I can 
just see the wheels fall off and what's left of the car go skidding down 
the pavement, shedding fenders, hood, etc, as it goes.  :)
