[Antennas] Roller inductor wire size

Greetings
I'm building a T-type transmatch with a roller
inductor. Previously my amp was an SB220 so 1KW rating
was fine - I only get 750W out on 10m. I have an Alpha
99 coming so I need to handle 1500W for sure. Two of
my transmatches are probably iffy for 1500, one is
good for 3KW (not homebrew).
I have a B&W 3853 roller inductor in unused condition,
but the wire measures about .050" diameter, 16AWG.
It's silver plated wire but really it looks too small.
So, opinions on 16AWG roller inductor for 1500W T-type
transmatch? Too small? I was thinking 14AWG as the
minimum? Anyone know the published rating for this
inductor?
I happen to have two brand new 17-position wafer
switches that would switch a tapped inductor
perfectly, probably good for 3KW easily... any advice
on what fixed inductor to buy if I go this way? I've
had good luck with a stepped inductor, don't really
have to go w/ a roller.
