Chris - I usually use them in pairs, one at the top of the pole, and one at
the bottom of the pole, with the halyard a continuous loop running between
the two.

I usually use this configuration in pairs, so that I have a spare in case

We had a window awning installed a couple of years ago, sure keeps the heat
out in the summer.  The rope system goes through ceramic rings, great idea.
Inside diamter about 5/8", outside about 7/8".  Have not been able to find
a souce but the insulators look great also."
