Lloyd: This type antenna can best be described as controversial. Many say 
it is technically impossible, and a few say they have used them 
successfully.  The question then becomes - were they able to make a few 
successful contacts with an awful antenna or does it work reasonably 
well?  I have not read any reports where tests were run against a "normal" 
antenna.  One definite problem is properly tuning the matching network. You 
need an antenna bridge or analyzer, ideally the AEA analyzer 
http://www.aea-wireless.com/via.htm  which has a swept display of VSWR vs 
frequency.

The best source of EH antenna info is AntennaX,  http://www.antennex.com
Unfortunately, it's a pay site (but some info is shown free).  It's 
somewhat like buying an on-line copy of an antenna handbook.  You can print 
out past issues or buy a CD ROM.
