[Antennas] Inverted V for 40/80

Got a W9INN 80-40 dipole fed with RG-8X here, no balun, and have excellent
results. With an inexpensive MFJ tuner I can use it on MARS frequencies and
it works just fine.
Now...that doesn't mean it wouldn't put out a stronger signal if it was fed
with twin-lead or open wire ladder line...it WOULD. Even with a higher SWR,
it might pick up a dB or so, given the length of the lead-in. And a
loop?...well that's one of my next projects. These days, what I read about
them makes me get the itch to do a little experimentation, especially for
NVIS work.
But in the end, remember: every minute you spend agonizing over what antenna
to put up, and every minute you sweat over a little SWR, is one less minute
you can be having a blast stringing one of your own creations up in the
trees (talking about ANTENNAS here, not kids), and one less minute that you
can be having a blast on the air, enjoying the benefit of your ingenuity.
73,
Philosophical Tom
