John,

You didn't mention which coax you are using, but let me point out that if 
you were using a 100 feet of RG-213 (an RG-8 type coax) on 80-meters an SWR 
of 10:1 would produce an additional loss of only about 1 dB due to SWR. 1 
dB can barely be detected by a receiving station (if at all). So if at the 
band edges your SWR is less than 10:1 (on 80-meters) there really isn't 
much to be concerned about. If, on the other hand, you rig is too 
temperamental to load into that high of an SWR I would suggest you consider 
getting a good antenna tuner.
