Not only tidier but keeps the broadside lobes pointing in the same
directions on all bands. The fan dipole usually requires the individual
dipoles to be separated from one another and that results in each dipole
"pointing" in a different direction from the others.

You pay with some loss in the traps and reduced SWR bandwidth, neither of
which may be very important.
