Jim,

I have been out of town for the last two days, so missed being able to give 
you a timely response to this.

First, as moderator, I would like to apologize for the horrendous behavior 
of some of our members.  I am embarrassed and disturbed that anyone, 
especially a newcomer to our forum, should be treated in such a way.

I'm not sure how long after you posted this that you left the list, but I 
counted no fewer than 20 replies on the list -- all encouraging you to 
stay, plus several helpful replies to your original question.

I would like to add my name to the list.  It is unfortunate that we do have 
these nefarious "lids" lurking about the antenna list, but they do not 
reflect that hundreds of others who are here to discuss "things antenna" in 
the best gentlemanly tradition of amateur radio.  Just as one learns to 
ignore the obnoxious ops on the air, one has to learn to ignore them on an 
email discussion list such as this.

I hope that you will reconsider and join us again.
I would be happy to relay any of the helpful replies that you may have missed.

I am sending this to you personally, and to the list, so that others can 
get the message about this.
