Something I tried many (40-45) years ago was building a rhombic for 
2-meters with 2 wavelengths on each of the 4 legs in both the terminated 
and non-terminated format.  It worked great back in the days when AM was 
king on 2 meters. 2 wavelengths on 2 meters is about six feet.
