Jim - I suppose that this begs the question, "What do you tie the other side
of the feedline to?  The J and end fed Zepp resolve this question with a
quarter wave stub, but this really only solves the question at one
wavelength, that at which the stub electrical wavelength is equal to the
electrical half wave length of the antenna. Moxon shows another way of
achieving this, but at some greater complexity and additional wire.

However this solution is good only at one frequency. At frequencies off
resonance, even 10s of kilohertz, the current will not be zero, and you will
need to supply a "return current" by means of a counterpoise or other
system. 

Feeding the half wave antenna at the end with a tuned circuit and a short
counterpoise is probably the best solution. Since the current is low, a
short non resonant counterpoise can be used.
