True, discones by nature of design cover a wide range, some of the larger
ones, 10 MHz to 100 MHz or so, and I have some that cover up to about 3 GHz.
The Diamond has a 6m whip on the top, the rest of the antenna is choked off.
The antennas actually cover about 100 MHz to 1.5 GHz continuously, without
the whip, we as HAMs notice that they cover all the bands, 2m, 220, 440,
900, 1.2 etc, but in fact they cover everything in between equally as well.
These antennas are excellent general purpose TX and RX antennas due to this.
They have no gain, so imagine a 1/4 antenna for every frequency your average
scanner covers with no compromise!!!
