Hi, Kees and all interested:
I have a homebrew open-chassis TEE-type tuner and use a cumbersome,
un-pretty solution to the 'balun problem' when feeding owls (open-wire
lines):
I wound a tapped link around the outside of the inductor, and put a cap in
series or parallel when it's needed.
Works 160-10M.
I also have a 2L shorty-forty (reflector parasitic) with 20-ft spacing on a
26-ft boom. I put the director el of a tri-bander in front of the 40M DE,
and the reflector of the tri-bander in back of the 40M DE, and feed the 40M
DE with owl.
Works 40-10; it's on a step-ladder until I get the tower up. Then, we'll
see whether the effort was worth it ;o)))
