Jerry, a great idea as far as cost, however, many polyethylenes UNLIKE
CPVC may not contain UV or ultra violet inhibitor in the compounding
process. This additive requires confirmation from the manufacturer.
CPVC tubing by nature of the compounding process is UV inhibited and
should give some degree of longevity in direct sunlight. Polyethylene
products without a minimum of .05% UV inhibitor may break down in two to
three years similar to the construction cover sheeting. =20

I offer this as a former plastics manufacturer in hopes of saving
someone a great deal of time and distress. Happy experimenting.

Ar Home Depot, you can get a 25 ft coil of 1/2 inch dia plastic tubing=20
(translucent, looks like polyethylene) meant to be used as the water
line=20
for the refrigerator's icemaker. I bet it would make good open wire=20
insulators. I don't use the stuff, or I would try it myself. Pretty
cheap=20
to try it - 25 feet for less than $2.
