[Antennas] Question reg. multiband dipole - balun

I was told to put a short length of coax from the tunner to the balun, then 
attach the 450o window (100ft) to my loaded droopy dipole.  It works well 
on some and works on all.  You appear to be suggesting that it doesnot 
work.  Or are you saying that it would work better if I figure out how to 
hook the 450 window line directly to the Ameritron ATR-15 tuner.
