[Antennas] Need a bit of wire advice

I can't put my hands on the literature at this late date (I retired 32
years ago) but I believe the Signal Corps Lab at Fort Monmouth, NJ,
studied the effects of corrosion on bare copper or copperweld wire,
making many exhaustive measurements after the samples had been up for
many years and came to the conclusion that there was no detectable
difference between enameled wire and bare wire performance wise. We used
bare copperweld (machine straightened) for all the antennas we erected
all over the world.

In very harsh environments the only effect of corrosion was weakening of
the wire due to loss of copper. Under those conditions, we replaced the
antenna (and open-wire feedlines) on a periodic basis.
