One could, I suppose, run a check on the FCC OET database to see if any RF devices
are type accepted. If not, then, IMO, one would need a license to use the unit. The one I looked at on this length tx'ed in a non-amateur freq. But, if a unit was not type accepted, but operated on an Amateur Frequency, then a Ham, w/privileges on that freq, could, subject to Amateur rules such as PEP, RF exposure, spurious emissions, topics of discussion, band plan, operate it. A cordless phone operating on 2 meter would, in essence, be a repeater connection to the telephone network. 73 DE TIM KG6IRH.
