Something you may want to research in the quest for CCD design
information.  When commercial trans-atlantic radio communication
was being established, Long Island was a large antenna farm.
One antenna there was called a "fishbone" because it was made up of
a long (1 or 2 miles or more) open wire transmission line, with
dipoles (?) running off either side at 90 degrees.  These dipoles
were connected to the transmission line through a fixed capacitor.
This could have been before Janski and Bell Labs experiments.
