[Antennas] SWR Isn't Enough

This is a good example of why there is so much controversy over subjects
on this refelector.  Seems that everyone picks the facts to suit their
own specific situations and conlusions.  Seems you guys purposely ignore
the possibility that others may opt for more conventional solutions.

Of course there is nothing wrong with high swr on open wire lines. 
Trouble is most modern beam antenna installations do not use open wire
line so your conclusions and suggestions are worthless to a guy seeking
to run coax to a high performance beam. 

Then again I suppose grumpy old men are supposed to be pig headed,
stuborn and hard to get along with.  My appologies in advance to those
of you who are not old, grumpy, or men.
