Your posting reminded me that I still have a Sun Hemmi slide rule - made
from bamboo! - that I acquired at a radio club auction. It has most of the
scales of a traditional Log-Log Decitrig rule plus special scales for L, C
, F, etc. for operations with resonant circuits. The rule is still in like
new condition and is a valued part of of collection. Unfortunately, the
workhorse K&E Log-Log Duplex Vector that saw me through undergrad and grad
school has suffered a bit with age, though a little TLC would probably
convince it to "slide" freely once more.

Every time I pick up a modern calculator, I am reminded of those years
spent with a slide rule case hanging from my belt!   <:}

Most of the aluminum rules I have used were made by Pickett and Echel
(sp?). I still have a little 6" pocket P&E but it is so corroded that it no
longer "slides."

Aside to Karl with a K: did I get that Sun Hemmi rule from you at RWK back
in the 70's or so?
