As an organic chemist I can tell you that acetone boils at 34 degrees C (just 
above normal room temp) is a good solvent for grease, better than ethyl 
alcohol, and will not leave a residue if it is pure in the first place.  Most 
is acetone and water so there will not be a residue. 
Not sure if that is what the antenna needs.  It might need the glass 
roughened up a little with an abrasive polish.
