Van,

Wow, thanks a gigacycle for these .....What fun... A computer program cannot
let you visualize the relationships like this intuitive device. Newer is
not always better.

Maybe ARRL would care to print these and make them available ??

----------------------
I did print the Allied one. I had to make up a local 'web page' (file named
'lca1.html') with the following content:

<img src="alliedLC1.jpg" width="484" height="850">

Made one of these for all four pieces. Although overly simplistic, this
seemed the easiest way to play with the ratio of the two to get the windows
to align. I am not an HTML giant and I'm sure there is a neater and sexier
way to do this with html tables.

I then had to play with the relationship of the 'slider' pages with the
front/back ones. This would probably vary somewhat from PC to PC based on
screen resolution, screen H-W ratio, printer type, browser version, etc....
My system seemed to do best on the Allied one with the front/back at 484/850
and the inner sliders at 440/850. The Shure ones look a bit different.

After practicing some 'Arts&Crafts 101' skills, I have a working model of
the Allied one. Nothing to write home about, but great to have.... Thanks a
gigacycle.

There are copyright notices on both these. Allied is still in business as a
division of Avnet (Dallas area). Shure was, I believe, was bought by
Motorola many moons ago. The original Shure building (on Shure Drive,
Arlington Heights, IL) is now a Motorola property and part of their
Infrastructure group (radio systems and paging/cell switches).

These companies could create some tremendous goodwill by reproducing these
in something durable like plastic or aluminum. I'm sure all of us would buy
a pair or two, even if they are only used as wall hangings or paperweights.
I'll be on the lookout for these at swaps and garage sales.

73
Frank
