Hello...In the CD-44, Ham III, and Tailtwister, the zener is 13 volt.  This is only
used as a voltage regulator for the indicating meter power supply.  Probably a 12 v
zener would work fine since there is a "calibrating" resistor in series with the
meter and power supply.  Two of the manuals say measure about 13 VDC on the terminals
going out to the pot in the rotor, and one says 14 VDC.  One of my manuals identifies
VR-1 as 13V, 50 ma.
