Yes, you can bury the radials.  The more the better.  Three or four should be sufficient, but if you could lay down 50, you'd see improvement.  I imagine the amount of work and time put into the project may cause you to think about putting down, let's say, fifty.  Shoot for 8 and you'll be pleased in most cases.
