[Antennas] no radial vertical antennas

Ron, I think that your comment  is the gist of the thread!
Although amateurs often use the term 'vertical' somewhat loosely, it 
usually refers to a single radiating element placed vertically over the 
ground.  A vertical is usually 1/4 wl long electrically ...
However, the strict definition, IMHO, is the orientation of the E vector to 
the ground.  In space there is no vertical or horizontal antenna.  As we 
advance in out own knowledge as well as the science, some of the terms that 
are used have to be used concisely or defined.  To me a vertical is the way 
the E vector is oriented, (watch for eliptiall or circular antennas).
