[Antennas] Bevrage Antenna - Atmospheric Noise

I wonder if anyone has any information on the use of a beverage antenna in 
Florida with the intent to reduce atmospheric noise on the receive side of 
a QSO.

Any thoughts with possible references could be appreciated.
