Boy that was quick. Well, I like the fact that the Dodge probably won't =
be a major source of noise and appreciate the input on the transceivers. =
The next thing I was going to ask was about the mount for the antenna. =
If you mount the antenna at the tow won't opening the hatch be a =
problem. If I go with the Iron horse antennas can I not use a hatch =
mount style mount so I can get to them reasonably well to interchange? =
If I put the antennas on top of the vehicle I would have a difficult =
time getting to them as I have severe arthritis in my left ankle and =
wear a brace. By the way, I own several Alinco vhf\uhf radios both hand =
held and mobile and really like them. I hate it that the DX 70's noise =
blanker is so rotten. I really don't want to use the Icom 706 mobile as =
I use it primarily as a base and do a lot ot dx with it. I do own an =
Icom 736 that I use primarily on 6 meters as well as hf but for some =
reason it seems to have developed some problems with being off freq. I =
figured I can get a used hf mobile at Dayton pretty cheap or even a new =
one the way prices have fallen. Anyhow some more input on antennas and =
mount would be appreciated. I don't think I want to go the screwdriver =
route. I have a friend who has one of the Yaesu antennas but doesn't =
like it. He says it performs poorly. He just sold another friend an OB =
80 and my friend loves it. I thought about the Outbackers but have been =
leaning toward the Iron Horse.=20
