When I was a teenager my Dad (W4BVA) drew two pictures for me.  The first
was a water pump with a 2 inch output, coupled to a 2 inch hose, coupled to
a 2 inch irrigation pipe.  The second picture was identical except that the
irrigation pipe was only 1 inch.  The he asked me 3 questions:  1.  If both
pumps are pumping 10 gallons per minute, which one is putting the most water
on the ground?  2.  Which pump is working the hardest?  3.  If each hose has
a small hole in it, which one is leaking more water?  I think he would have
agreed with you on all points Jan.
