Actually, that is somewhat private and probably none of our business to
know, unless Carl and someone who spoke for him, was willing to share
that information.
I know several amateurs who have been active for 60 plus years who also
have divested themselves from the hobby. The common question asked "why"
the general answer was that "it's not the same as the past or too much on
the air BS, or it's not as interesting as it was in the past", or all my
on the air friends have past.
It is what it is, and life goes on; and so it was said here on "amradio".
Curious point if you're old: they still sell "hot water bottles"
