In the Chicago area, WGN on 720 kHz had the capability of switching in
additional matching components to quickly operate their antenna (I think
it might have been the short backup antenna) on 640 kHz to be able to
participate in Conelrad for the area.

At least that is what I vaguely remember the chief transmitter engineer,
Charlie Myers, telling me when I worked there very briefly around 1970.
 I would have loved to see how fast they might also have needed to
retune the transmitter. Or if they would be using the main transmitter
or the lower powered backup transmitter.
