Remember FM converters?
And those AM and FM cartridges that went into an 8 track player?
Maybe someone needs to develop an AM converter that can blue tooth into the
automobile sound system. That won't likely happen, but it would be
interesting if there was enough real content left on AM radio to make doing
so worth the time.
Ah, the days of real AM radio from an automobile.
All of the Midwest and Texas powerhouses rolled into my central Mississippi
qth at night, along with a few from the Northeast.
In the daytime, I was close enough to be able to hear WNOE and WWL out of
New Orleans, and WHBQ from Memphis with enough signal to enjoy them.
On road trips during daylight, a tune across the dial would give me an
audible indication of sorts as to our location along the root.
That helped pass the time since I couldn't see to count license plates,
green Studebakers, etc.
That AM radio Magic helped steer me toward this hobby, and toward my ongoing
46 year-to-date career in broadcasting.
