"The best
thing to do is fire up your biggest rig, find someone on the air with
a strapping signal and have a good ragchew QSO. You'll feel better."

Well, if you're like me the only folks talking are on AM and in groups that meet regularly. Calling CQ for a nice ragchew has not been bringing up many hams with a gift of gab, but now and then you get a talker. I brought this one up before, and it is still occurring as I have observed. Using an SDR Play, looking at the hambands, mostly dead as a post from 14MC on up, except for that massive block of signals on 27 MC. Those guys still motor mouth and are on the air, mostly working their DX which is at least half way across the country... and they don't hook computers to the mic input. A similar wasteland occurs on 6 meters, beacon stations coming in from all over, try a CQ on CW, SSB and AM...nada, nothing, zilch, but tune up to 50.313, and it is squealing with typists.

So, fire up that biggest AM rig, put it in the middle of 20, 15 or 10, and call CQ. When folks bellyache about your AM signal, or pop carriers on you, at least you know they are out there, somewhere.
