Well, the company that was the xfmr supplier to Eico actually answered me and said they can still produce the power transformer as designed for the tester.  It surely is not cheap though, $95...ouch, but I guess that is about right for a custom job and parts and labor, plus being made in the USA.   Asked them if the per unit price would drop on a bigger order, thinking others might want to resurrect their old checkers, could be an Ebay market out there for them.  Might have to go to plan B though..
