[AMRadio] Site for Extra Class Testing suggestions

I just asked a couple of friends who are active in the testing and they tell
me that there is virtual testing going on. The VEs are using video
monitoring of the test site with remote controlled cameras who sweep the
room before the test and after along with video taping of the process.

Many clubs are using on site testing but you must have had a virus test in a
specified amount of time and make an appointment then the minimum distance
is used. In recent years I haven't kept up with the tests but have noticed
that several sites began to charge for practice tests. As for written
material, I saw the Gordon West branded material advertised somewhere not
too long ago.

One thing I know for sure, most of the technical information seemed to have
been eliminated and now the math, polar and rectangular coordinates, are
emphasized along with things in which I am not interesting in doing. A few
years back I looked and they were asking if you could recognize a NAND gate
and other symbols such as that. One thing I did note is that there is now
operating procedure included. It has been several years back since I looked
so I can't speak about today.

One thing is or certain, it is a different test than what I took for my
Extra in 99, the first chance I had time to take it. I had an Advanced
License from 73 till then.

Thanks Jim; my last FCC examination was in 1975 so I know just about
nothing about testing today. Someone else probably is up to date
here. I would use google to find a practice test website but why not
get a license manual if they still exist, and study the material for
Extra Class and learn it.
