[AMRadio] FCC fees, I have been licensed since 1958 and have enjoyed this hobby very much.

Why not? You can't take it with you. Did you ever see the hearse
in a funeral procession pulling a U-Haul? Enjoy it while you can.
As I recall, the last time the FCC was charging fees was sometime
in the 1960s and it was $8 or thereabouts, but I'd have to
look up the exact dates and amount. Maybe some other member
of this list has better recollection of the details. But still, looking
at usinflationcalculator.com, I see that $50 in to-day's dollarettes
is equivalent to $8.26 back in 1965. Appears to me that the proposed
fee is roughly the same as the previous one in terms of real money.
And about the same as a year's membership to ARRL.
I don't have strong feelings one way or t'other, not enough to
bother commenting to FCC.
