Several people have been kind enough to send information to me about the
calls I posted a bit earlier.

Here is one of them:

Those calls belonged to A. Prose Walker
who was with the FCC years ago.

73, Jeff

QCWA
Quarter Century Wireless Association

Jeff Beals, WA4AW

National Director &
QCWA Historian

Some of you might not recognize A. Prose Walker, but he signed my first
ticket issued in late 1955. His ground work also set the stage for our
WARC bands of 30, 17 and 12 meters according to sources.

Also this bit of information from someone who knew him.

First Call: 8AVQ in 1924 nu8AVQ, W1NJA, W2BMX, W2FKY, W2FOG, W2NJA, W3BMX,
W3LJM, W4CXA, W5KZA, K6UUT, W8AIE & WØDCA. NEWINGTON, CT, Sep 26,
2002--Former FCC official A. Prose Walker, W4BW, the man some consider the
godfather of the so-called "WARC bands"--30, 17 and 12 meters--
