Running something like Deoxit removes all that, specifically the graphite, 
eliminating the 'contact's from one side of the switch to the other. 
 
I bought some anti-seize, with graphite from an automobile parts place the 
other day. I've used it on all my physical connections on the mobile 
antenna system. All noise removed. 
Perhaps a much smaller application, perhaps with an applicator smaller than 
a q-tip would work better for band switches, especially those that have a 
ball bearing with an indent. 
 
Just a thought.
