[AMRadio] Desperate for a RFI solution.

Hi,
Thanks for all of your input, I really appreciate it. It looks like I
found part of my problem and was able to fix it with no money spent.

The problem was the fire door in the hallway right outside my
apartment. There is an electromagnet that holds it open. If there is a
fire and the alarm goes off the magnet is turned off and the door
automatically closes.

Somebody either bumped the door or closed it and when reopened they
did not center the steel piece on the door with the electromagnets
pad. This causes a buzzing noise and produces some heat which
apparently must emit some RFI when it's off center and buzzing. I
walked past the door this morning and I heard it buzzing. I fixed that
problem, and came into my apartment and most of the noise was gone on
my receiver. . I still have about an s7-s8 static noise floor and weak
received signals most of the time but no more buzzing interference
wiping out all receive. If that problem arises again at least I know
how to fix it. I'm surprised I didn't find this problem before. I walk
past that door several times a day and must not have been paying
attention, but today it just caught my ear for some reason..

It will take a little more investigating to solve all of the problem,
but I am still going to have to accept that fact that an indoor
antennas receive is not going to be all that hot and probably prone to
interference.

tnx all es 73 de Randy, N3LRX
